Patrick Dicus is a Category 1 road racer with experience at UCI stage races, Belgian Kermesses, Spanish national races, National level criteriums, and almost all premier road events in the Northeast US. He has been an endurance athlete for over 8 years with the latter 5 of which being spent in and around the sport of road cycling.
His training focus is centered primarily around balance. In order to succeed in as time consuming a sport as cycling, it is crucial that his athletes are able to adequately view their lives comprehensively, taking into account both on and off bike stresses, as well prioritizing adequate recovery. For these reasons, it is imperative for Patrick to have in-depth, day to day knowledge of his athletes schedules and life commitments. Only through understanding the total day to day life of his athletes, can Patrick begin to adequately assess what training is possible.
Through completing high volumes of training (despite not being a professional cyclist) year after year, Patrick has years of experience navigating these questions and finding workable solutions to them. Ultimately, he hopes to be able to empower his own athletes such that they eventually can make decisions for themselves, and have an in depth knowledge of their own training needs.
Training with Power to Podium looks like unlimited text communication between coach and athlete, and weekly adjustments to each athletes training schedule. Athletes will have an introductory call to define goals, analyze past training and racing files, as well as discuss the broader plan for their training. Before peak races, videocalls to plan race strategy, nutrition plans, and course analysis are also available to athletes. This could take the form of building a pacing plan for a Time Trial, analyzing the key sectors of a gravel event, or finding certain competitors / rival teams present in your races field to look out for.
Pre Race Prep Calls: For peak events, I am happy to do some research on the course / riders registered and prepare some notes to help athletes arrive at the start line as prepared as can be. Additionally, if you are based in the Northeast US, there is a high chance I’ve done your event before and have a couple years experience competing at it myself. On the right I have a screenshot from a meeting with an athlete to prepare for the 2026 Tour of Newport News.
